Chapman compiled the notes for the MIT/WHOI Joint Program core course “Wave Motions in the Ocean and Atmosphere” in Spring 1989, drawing on notes he and Malanotte-Rizzoli had taken from Hendershott’s Scripps waves course.
The 2026 digital edition reconstructs the 1989 notes in modern LaTeX and provides an online reader, PDF, and EPUB. The digital edition remains hosted with its source repository so the versions offered here stay in sync.
